Shutterglasses and Page Flipping

Shutterglasses enable full screen high resolution viewing, and provide a high quality method for viewing 3D images on a computer.

LCD shutter glasses alternately block out light coming to the left and right eyes. This is done at high frequency in order to eliminate flicker. The shutters are synchronized (by a wire or an IR signal) with the sequential presentation of the left and right images to the monitor by your graphics board.  An effective computer display of 3D images using shutterglasses involves high resolution “page flipping”.  In this method, full-screen left and full-screen right images are alternatively transferred to the monitor by the video card itself.  High refresh rates ( 120 Hz or higher ) are recommended.

This gallery's flash player (courtesy of Masuji Suto) does not directly provide page-flipping images.  However, your computer or display may be able to take other formats (like side by side) and provide shutter-glass compatible output.
